The Story

I spend most of my day in text boxes

LinkedIn posts. Newsletter drafts. Video scripts. Prompt engineering for AI tools. Messages to clients, partners, subscribers. If I'm not writing, I'm probably thinking about what to write next.

And here's the thing - I'm fast at writing. But speaking? Speaking is instant. Ideas flow differently when you talk them out. No cursor blinking at you. No "is this the right word?" paralysis.

The Discovery

A few months ago, I found Whisper Flow - a tool that lets you speak and instantly drops text into whatever you're working on. Genius, right?

I burned through my credits in a single day.

The monthly subscription appeared: $12/month to keep doing what I'd gotten hooked on. And I thought... wait. This is just OpenAI's Whisper model. I could build this. And if I build it to run locally, there's no API costs to pass on. No monthly subscription. No credits running out mid-sentence.

The Build

So Vicho and I built Mumbl.

The core idea was simple: press a button, speak, get text. Wherever you're working. No switching windows. No copying and pasting. Just seamless voice-to-text that runs entirely on your computer.

One-time purchase. Own it forever.

What We Didn't Expect

Here's where it got interesting. We built it for people like me - writers who type too much. But when we opened presale at $10 for founding members?

Therapists who can't send session notes to the cloud bought in. Enterprise employees with strict data privacy policies bought in. Researchers conducting sensitive interviews bought in. People who just don't want their thoughts on someone else's servers bought in.

All 10 spots sold out in 5 days.

Turns out local processing isn't just about saving money on subscriptions. It's about control. Privacy. Knowing your words stay yours.

The Use Cases

People are using Mumbl for:

  • Writing newsletters (guilty)

  • Client communication

  • Journaling and morning pages

  • Video script drafts

  • Interview transcription

  • Meeting notes without the AI bot joining the call

  • Brainstorming sessions

  • Literally any time speaking is faster than typing

The Next Chapter

We're launching the app first week of February. But we're opening up another presale round today at $30 - still a one-time purchase, still completely local, still no subscriptions. Lock in lifetime access before we launch at full price.

If you've ever felt the friction of translating thoughts into typed words, or if you've got privacy requirements that rule out cloud transcription... this is for you.
