The Authenticity Crisis
You're scrolling.
You see something beautiful. Something moving.
And your first thought isn't "wow."
It's "is this real?"
Every image. Every video. Every moment.
We've entered the era of default skepticism.
"Pics or it didn't happen" has become "pics don't prove it happened."
Why This Matters
When everything COULD be fake, we assume everything IS fake.
Real moments lose their impact. Authentic stories get dismissed.
The line between real and synthetic? It's gone.
We're losing the ability to be moved by what we see online.
Not because we don't want to feel. But because we can't trust what we're seeing enough to let it affect us.
The Unexpected Upside
But maybe this isn't entirely bad.
Maybe this is what finally pushes us back to something more real.
When you can't trust what you see online, what CAN you trust?
The experiences you have
The people you know
The moments you witness with your own eyes
Maybe AI doesn't make everything meaningless.
Maybe it makes the real things more valuable.
Your friend's actual wedding. Not the photos—being THERE.
Your kid's actual recital. Not the recording—being PRESENT.
Your own actual life. Not the curated version—the lived version.
What to Do About It
AI tools like Nano Banana Pro are incredible. They help you create in ways that were impossible before.
But they're also eroding trust in digital content faster than we've ever seen.
So:
Use AI without becoming a cynic. Create with it. But stay grounded in what's real.
Invest in real-life experiences. The stuff AI can't replicate. The moments that matter because you were there.
When everything online is potentially fake, the real world becomes the only place where truth still lives.
Prompt of The Week: Reality Check
The Challenge: You're surrounded by AI-generated content and you don't know what's real anymore. But instead of becoming cynical, you want to use this moment to reconnect with what actually matters.
The Solution: One prompt that helps you identify what's real and valuable in your life right now.
THE REALITY CHECK PROMPT
Copy this into ChatGPT or Claude:
I'm feeling overwhelmed by how much AI-generated content is everywhere, and I'm starting to question everything I see online.
Help me reconnect with what's actually real and valuable in my life.
Ask me ONE question at a time:
What's one experience you had this week that you know was 100% real because YOU were there?
Who is someone in your life you can see, talk to, or spend time with in person?
What's one thing you've been putting off doing "in real life" because you've been spending time online instead?
[After I answer] Based on what I've shared, create a simple plan for one real-world experience I can have this week.
Make this about reconnecting with reality. Not avoiding AI, but balancing it with what's tangible and true.
Let's start. Ask me the first question.
10 Real Things AI Can't Replace
When everything online feels fake, remember these things are still 100% real:
A conversation with someone sitting across from you - Eye contact, body language, actual presence
The feeling of accomplishment after doing something hard - AI can help, but it can't do the reps for you
A meal you cooked (even if AI gave you the recipe) - The smell, the taste, the act of making it
A walk outside - The air, the sounds, the fact that you moved your body
A handwritten note - Physical ink on physical paper, from your actual hand
A skill you've practiced - Guitar, basketball, cooking. AI can coach but can't practice for you
A memory you have with someone you love - Shared experience that lives in both of you
Your own body - Your heartbeat, your breath, your physical existence
A problem you solved yourself - Even if AI helped, YOU made the decisions
The moment you're in right now - This second, reading this, is undeniably real
The rule: When you feel like everything is AI-generated and nothing is trustworthy, do one of these things. Reconnect with what AI can't touch.
The Bottom Line
AI image generation just got scary good.
That means two things are happening at once:
We're losing trust in everything we see online
We're gaining a reason to value real-life experiences more
Both things can be true.
You can use AI tools. And you can stay grounded in reality.
You can appreciate AI-generated art. And you can prioritize real moments.
You can live in a world where Nano Banana Pro exists. And you can choose to spend more time in the world where you exist, physically, tangibly, really.
Because when everything online is questionable, the real world becomes the only place where meaning still matters.
